Kent Hixson

Bio

Coach Hixson is entering his Fifth season with the Deer Creek Antlers. He spent his first year as the Wide Receivers coach and the last 4 years as the Running Backs Coach. In all 5 years on staff with the Antlers, the Antlers have made the playoffs. The 2021 team finished 10-3 and played in the State 6A-2 state championship game against Bixby.

Prior to coming to Deer Creek, Coach Hixson spent two years at Shawnee as the Linebackers and Running Backs coach as well as Asst. Boys Basketball and Head Track and Head Boys Golf. Prior to Shawnee, He was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Cushing as well as Asst, Golf. The previous 20 years he lived and worked in Chandler. Nine of those years he was Head Boys Basketball as well as either Head Track or Head Boys Golf. He was an assistant football coach for 15 of those years in Chandler. He coached Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs while at Chandler.

Coach Hixson graduated HS from Pryor High in 1988. He played WR/TE/LB where he was an All-District performer. He was a 4-sport and 4 year letter winner in Football, Basketball, Soccer and Track at Pryor High School.

Coach Hixson attended Oklahoma State University after graduation. While in attendance, He worked as a Football Manager at OSU. His assignment was with the Defensive Backs. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education in the spring of 1993.

Coach Hixson and his wife Heather were married in June 2022. The two have 6 children between them, Jessie, Jack, Zane, Piper, Daniel and Matthew. Heather is a graduate of Michigan State University and a licensed therapist in OKC.

Hixson will be teaching his 4th year of US History at Deer Creek High after also teaching Oklahoma History in his first year at Deer Creek High. Coach Hixson is also the Head Girls Golf Coach.
